How to Prevent Network Fraud

1.       Any email or website that asks for your bank account number, cell phone number or identity card number is doubtful.

2.       Don’t click the links directly which appears in the email. The first step is to verify the legality of the links; even if they seem legal, you should copy the address of the link and visit the page through the browser.

3.       If there is phone number attached in the email or web page, a phone number verification should be conducted first.

4.       Better to use the legal-copy software and firewall provided by legal organization, because the piracy software or some free personal firewall might contain Trojan horse program.

5.       Better avoid online payment. If has to, better call the bank first before filling the account name, confirming that the bank does provide online payment service to the website you are visiting.

6.       If there is a webpage link in the message of your friends from some instant communication software such as QQ or MSN, do not click it. Especially, some MSN virus would cause webpage virus at the same time. Do not believe any QQ coin sales promotion information sending to you by QQ, because Tencent only publishes its official news through the account 10000, other information is all illegal and might be generated by virus.

7.       When using network real name or general name in Chinese, make sure that the Chinese address is referring to the legal English address. If you find anything goes wrong, close the browser right away.

8.       If you are browsing the websites at public internet bars, remember to close all the pages when you leave and delete all the cookies saved in the settings of the browser and all the offline pages.

9.       Do not believe the tricks claiming making money from the internet.

10.   If it is possible, try to get the website information through RSS, abandon those inefficient email readers and internet navigation. The browsers such as Firefox, Opera and Netscape were much safer than IE and they all support RSS.

11.   Do not open those EXE documents from the internet easily.

12.   Do not easily trust the information from the local area network, because the network has extended to the internal of the enterprise, you might be caught by the virus from your colleague.
